The contemporary view of assessment defines it as "an ongoing process of setting clear goals for student learning and measuring progress toward those goals," yet research suggests that for the majority of lessons, no evidence exists by which a teacher could gauge how well students are progressing in their learning. This fact has important implications for thinking about equity, access, and culturally responsive teaching. Reflecting on adjustments we made last year, the presenter will discuss why it is essential for educators to take a new perspective on the need to incorporate assessment and data into our daily instruction. As a group, we will explore several effective integrated assessment strategies, including some low-prep/no-prep tools that can be used in the classroom tomorrow morning.
